The Coag-Sense PT2 PT/INR Professional Monitoring System is a sleek, easy-to-use portable device that gives accurate prothrombin time (PT) – the only PT/INR test meter to do so – at point-of-care. It uses a groundbreaking mechanical clot detection technology that produces results akin to WHO’s gold standard tilt-tube method but without the latter’s complex and time-consuming processes. Despite its advanced technology, the Coag-Sense PT2 is very easy to use, fits in your pocket or a pouch, and requires only a small sample size, letting healthcare professionals get accurate results anytime, anywhere in under a minute. This device is designed for patients taking Warfarin as an anticoagulant.

Simple and Accurate Testing: The Coag-Sense PT2 System represents a technological breakthrough in point-of-care PT/INR testing by providing actual PT seconds in a compact and handheld device. Unlike its competitors that use algorithms to estimate when a clot has formed, this compact and portable handheld meter determines precisely when a clot has formed, giving you results with cutting-edge accuracy.

The Coag-Sense System consists of a meter, single-use test strips, and other accessories required for fingerstick testing. Once the meter is turned on and properly configured, the test strip is inserted into the dedicated slot. Then, a 10 uL blood sample collected from the patient is transferred into the test strip, which is automatically mixed with the clot initiating component. The PT time is the actual time from when the blood sample is applied to when the clot is formed. There are no estimates, no guesses – just cold hard data from a simple clot timer. The PT time is converted to an INR value using the INR normalization data from the test strip’s NFC tag. The Coag-Sense PT2 PT/INR Test boasts an accuracy of 2.5% CV.

Built-in Quality Control: Each test you perform with the Coag-Sense System is guaranteed to provide accurate results thanks to its multiple integral quality control systems. The meter self-checks for optimal settings, ranging from the operating temperature to the timing functions and battery level when powered on. No calibration is ever required. Each optional test strip kit also comes with a set of control strips that you can use to test the reagent’s ability to form a clot and the meter’s ability to detect a clot. The PT2 meter is not susceptible to changes in hemoglobin and hematocrit levels.

State-of-the-Art Features: The Coag-Sense PT2 Meter can store up to 2000 patient results and 500 control test results. You can generate a line chart to quickly see the progression or trend of your patients’ outcomes over a specific period (for example, one month). You can send results to EHR systems, testing service providers, printers, or data management systems such as RALS or TELCOR through wireless (WiFi or Bluetooth) or wired (USB and Ethernet) connection. It also has a built-in Near Field Communication (NFC) Tag scanner to scan the NFC card containing the control and test strip data so you won’t have to input the data manually. Results are displayed on the colored touchscreen. It is powered by a rechargeable lithium-polymer battery that can run around 200 tests when fully charged.
