The BD Affirm VPIII Microbial Identification Test Kit is a direct specimen DNA probe test that identifies Candida species, Gardnerella vaginalis, and Trichomonas vaginalis using a single swab. Using the principles of nucleic acid hybridization, this DNA probe test provides results in under 1 hour. Samples are processed using the BD MicroProbe Processor, with positive results indicated by a blue dot on the target organism bead. This test eliminates the subjectivity inherent in direct microscopic observation methods, allowing for faster and more accurate detection of vaginitis.
