CoaguChek XS Plus (CLIA-waived) is a point-of-care device for monitoring patients taking anticoagulation medicines. The small, battery-powered, handheld meter has been designed to provide mid to high-volume professional clinical settings with simple testing methods, enhanced connectivity and on-the-spot results. This accurate, flexible meter offers practitioners a smart way to test.
Simple, efficient, precise testing: CoaguChek XS Plus uses a simple fingerstick test to provide clinicians with on-the-spot prothrombin results. This eliminates time spent waiting for laboratory results, and offers both increased peace of mind when monitoring Vitamin K antagonist therapy, and the ability to test and treat patients in the same session. A small blood sample (8µL) can be applied to both the top and sides of the test strips for this device, for easy, hassle-free coating. This application occurs outside the meter, helping to avoid cross-contamination and ensuring cleaner testing. The strips have a 21-month shelf life from the date of manufacture, and do not require refridgeration. This device has been designed for consistently easy use requiring minimal maintenance: calibration information is provided by a coding chip included in every vial of test strips, meaning no manual calibration is necessary. Additionally, this meter does not require the use of pipettes or the preparation of reagents, further simplifying use. CoaguChek offers precise results in approximately one minute, which are 97% accurate compared to lab results.
High quality accuracy: CoaguChek XS Plus is the only blood testing meter which both performs onboard quality control and determines patient results in a single test chamber. Every test strip is examined for integrity. It features flexible QC options - onboard controls and optional liquid testing - allowing for use in any testing environment. The device also has operator and QC lockout systems, which allows for independent control testing to meet regulatory requirements. This handheld, CLIA-waived monitoring system is the only one that neutralizes therapeutic levels of heparin (up to 0.8U/mL) and LMWH (low molecular weight heparin) (up to 2IU/mL). It also corrects PT/INR values for hematocrit within a specified wide range.
Streamlined data management: CoaguChek offers extensive data management options to help practitioners streamline data management across a facility. The device has an exceptionally large memory, capable of storing 2000 patient results and 500 liquid quality control results. It also features code chip programming and data storage for up to 60 code chips. This monitoring system gives clinicians the ability to denote patient ID in several fields, and add comments after each test result.
Easy to use: CoaguChek XS Plus can run on 4 x AA batteries or an optional rechargeable battery pack, facilitating easy portability for use across a facility or facilities. It can also be powered directly from an AC mains switch. It features auto-power, which automatically turns the device on when a test strip is inserted, and turns it off three minutes later. This meter is designed to be user friendly: it features an icon-driven, full-color, touchscreen interface for easy, intuitive use.
