Covidien/Kendall's Genius™ 2 infrared tympanic thermometer (sold separately) is one of the most sophisticated and advanced thermometers on the market. In order to ensure that the thermometer remains reliable and highly accurate at all times, a blackbody calibration checker is used. The checker is self-contained, unlike calibration plugs that require connection with a device of known accuracy. Not only does the checker check the accuracy, it automatically recalibrates the thermometer when necessary. In addition, the Genius™ 2 calibrator has the capability to generate a test report for each thermometer tested and save it to a USB flash drive.

The Genius™ 2 calibration checker will work with all Genius™ 2 thermometer software revisions. It is recommended that all Genius™ 2 owners keep a calibration plug for optimal results.
