The AMD Antimicrobial Foam Disc is a PHMB impregnated foam disc that creates a barrier of protection for catheter insertion sites. The disc can be used with central venous catheters (CVC), peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC) and around external devices.

The disc works by managing moisture and bacteria in the dressing concurrently. The foam dressing absorbs exudates while Polyhexamethylene Biguanide (PHMB) (a strong but safe antiseptic) targets and kills bacteria on contact.

The disc helps protect the patient from catheter related bloodstream infections and harmful bacteria such as MRSA and VRE. Using a foam disc helps limit cross contamination. The disc is effective for up to 7 days while promoting a healthy insertion environment.
