The Covidien Multifire Skin Stapler is disposable and placed next to each whenever the instrument handle is activated. Once the staples have penetrated, it starts working to compressing the tissues.

Each Covidien Multifire Skin Stapler is composed of stainless steel staples with a .51mm diameter wire. The span of the staple is 10.2mm before closure and around 3.4mm high and 4.8mm wide when closed. It additionally has a plain gut suture that is highly absorbable and sterile in nature. Staplers consist of purified connective tissues that are mostly collagen which is derived from serosal layer of beef intestines.
