The Quidel Lyra Direct Strep Assay is a real-time accurate PCR used to qualitatively detect:

• Group A ß-hemolytic Streptococcus (Streptococcus pyogenes)
• Pyogenic Group C and G ß-hemolytic Streptococcus (Streptococcus dysgalactiae, Streptococcus equi, Streptococcus canis)

Medical Use: Helps diagnose and pinpoint the cause of “strep throat” or Streptococcal pharyngitis, a common bacterial infection in children. It uses throat swab specimens collected from symptomatic patients.
